About our guests:
Michaeleen Doucleff, PhD
Michaeleen Doucleff, PhD, is the author of the New York Times bestseller Hunt, Gather, Parent. The book describes a way of raising helpful and confident children, which moms and dads have turned to for millennia. Doucleff has a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Berkeley, California, a master’s degree in viticulture and enology from the University of California, Davis, and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Caltech. Doucleff has reported for NPR’s global health desk for nearly 14 years. In 2015, she was part of the team that earned a George Foster Peabody award for its coverage of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Before coming to NPR in 2012, Doucleff was an editor at the journal Cell. She lives in Alpine, Texas, with her husband, daughter and German Shepherd, Savanna.

Rebekka Helford, MA, LMFT
Rebekka Helford offers transformational trauma therapy for adults as well as short-term intensive parenting consultation (including home visits) both remotely and at her Santa Monica office. Rebekka facilitates parent/toddler psychoeducation groups for Cassidy Preschool in Santa Monica. She has previously trained and taught associate therapists at Well Baby Center and the Reiss Davis Clinical Fellowship at Vista Del Mar Child & Family Services, both in Los Angeles.

Daniel Waldman, MD
Dr. Waldman is a board-certified Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatrist focusing on developmental issues, ADHD, depression, and anxiety disorders. He has a special interest in helping children and families navigate challenges in schools. Dr. Waldman uses a holistic approach when working with patients. By collaborating with patients and families, he incorporates developmentally informed therapeutic strategies to complement medication management.
