About The Event
On September 26th, Elizabeth Collison Ph.D., Larissa Mooney, MD, Sir Melancon, MD and Leigh Goodrich, MD joined the CalPsychiatry Psych Media Discussion Group to discuss the HBO series Euphoria, beginning with the first episode.
During this discussion, Drs. Collison, Mooney, Melancon and Goodrich reviewed how the show exposes aspects of addiction in the lives of teenagers; however, the clinicians also explored how the availability of effective intervention was underrepresented and the consequences of addiction could be lost in the pacing of the story as well as the glorification of some of the characters’ seemingly glamorous (albeit harmful) lifestyles.
