First generation Gestalt Therapist and Trainer – trained, examined and certified by Fritz Perls, M.D., et. al., – developer of Gestalt Therapy. Bob was chosen by Perls (1969) to introduce Gestalt Therapy to Europe where he has been teaching 16-18 weeks annually since. He has produced a free theory synopsis film, eight unedited individual Contemporary Gestalt Therapy films, and three Couple’s Therapy films (with his wife and colleague, Rita Resnick, Ph.D.) available for purchase on Vimeo. These are real people dealing with real issues with real therapists and in real time – no scripts and no actors. In 2019, he was awarded the APA (American Psychological Association) Division 29 (Psychotherapy) Distinguished Award for the International Advancement of Psychotherapy. His chapter for the new APA Handbook Of Psychotherapy Contemporary Gestalt Therapy is in press. In another lifetime, he drove a taxicab in NYC (his first Clinical Practicum), while attending graduate school at Columbia University at night.
